Data breach and online threats are a security concern facing SMBs. SecurityInfoWatch.com covered new research about security threats facing small and mid-sized businesses in the article, “Study finds 50% of SMBs have experienced a website breach.”
More than 1,100 security executives were surveyed for the study conducted by internet security provider Sectigo. The first annual “State of Website Security and Threat Report” found that many SMBs (48 percent) believe they are too small to be a target of an online attack and are not vulnerable to this type of threat.
“As SMBs increasingly digitize their operations, their websites become mission-critical for communicating with customers and conducting business. No business is too small a target. Attacks continue to evolve, and hackers are increasingly resourceful, making it critical for SMBs to invest in multi-layered solutions that stay ahead of ever-changing threats,” said Sectigo president, Michael Fowler, in the article.
The study also found:
- 50 percent of businesses surveyed had experienced a website breach before.
- 40 percent of respondents indicated that their websites were targeted on a monthly basis, or even more frequently, by threats such as malware.
- 58 percent of companies that recently experienced a security breach expressed feeling vulnerable to cyber threats.
