Insights to Help End Users Understand and Protect Against Vulnerabilities
New White Paper Outlines How To Implement a Vulnerability Disclosure Process
Vulnerabilities present a constant threat to the cybersecurity of end-users, and undermine the stability and integrity of our technology, software, and networks. To deal with threats posed by vulnerabilities, technology vendors regularly release patches to fix them in the devices we use every day. While living in a dynamic, seamless, and internet-connected world, software vulnerabilities are an unfortunate but often misunderstood reality with which we must contend.
To clarify the nature of software vulnerabilities and discuss the importance of responsible vulnerability disclosure, Hikvision has released a new cybersecurity white paper, “Understanding Vulnerabilities: Insights into the World of Software Vulnerabilities and Vulnerability Management.” The report provides an overview of the vulnerability management and disclosure process and shares a number of useful tips and references for companies who may not have a mature vulnerability management process. Hikvision also recently disclosed two vulnerabilities of their own. This white paper outlines how technology vendors can follow a responsible and coordinated disclosure process.
Vulnerabilities in our devices will only become more common as technology continues to evolve and more devices become interconnected. In order to mitigate cybersecurity vulnerabilities and adequately address them as they emerge, companies and vendors must build an effective and robust vulnerability management process and technology vendors must follow a responsible and transparent disclosure program.
