NCSAM Tips to Avoid Security Concerns and Stay Safe Online, Hikvision Cyber Blogs Offer Additional Tips and Insights
Today kicks off the 16th annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM), a collaborative effort between government and private industry that happens every October with the goal of providing Americans with the resources and information needed to stay safe online. This year’s theme—“Own It. Secure It. Protect It.”—is designed “to encourage personal accountability and proactive behavior in digital privacy, security best practices, common cyber threats and cybersecurity careers,” according to the National Cybersecurity Alliance.
In keeping with the theme, the NCSAM website offers these tips to help you stay safe and avoid security concerns:
- Own It: Stay safe on social media by updating your privacy settings. Keep your apps up-to-date to ensure mobile device security.
- Secure It: Change your passphrase protocol by creating strong, unique passphrases. Improve your login protection by turning on multi-factor authentication.
- Protect It: Update your computer to the latest security software, web browser and operating system to stay protected.
