Changing Passwords on IP Cameras
Changing Passwords on IP Cameras
When choosing a password for an IP camera, choose one that is not easily guessed by others. We recommend complex passwords that contain uppercase and lowercase characters, numbers, and special characters such as @, #, $ etc.
The newest versions of firmware will generate a popup message prompting you to change the password when logging into an IP camera with a default password. If you are using the new firmware and you do see this popup message, Press OK, and skip to step #3 in the instructions below.
To change the password on an IP camera:
- Log into the camera using Internet Explorer or Firefox web browsers with the current administrator password. If prompted to install the plugin (or to allow the plugin to run), follow the prompt to proceed with the password changing procedure.
- After logging into the camera, go to the Configuration tab. In this tab, go to Basic Configuration then Security.
- Choose the desired user and click on the Modify button. A Modify User window will appear.
- Enter the new password. Below the new password field an assessment bar will indicate the password strength. You should create a strong password.
- After entering the new password, confirm the password by re-entering it in the confirm field.
- Click OK.
