2020 Cyber Trends & Vulnerabilities Covered by Security Magazine
Hikvision Senior Director of Cybersecurity on Concerns, Hacks and Vulnerability Exploits
The Security magazine article, “Five cybersecurity trends from 2020—And what the future holds,” covers cybersecurity trends and vulnerabilities for 2020. It focuses on the impact to financial institutions (FIs) and the need for these institutions to be aware of cybersecurity trends in order to prevent security breach.
“In 2019, 86 percent of [security breaches] were financially motivated, and the records exposed in all breaches increased by 284 percent. And if that’s not enough for FIs to worry about, consider that the average cost of a breach as disclosed by public firms in 2019 was $116 million,” from the article.
Some of the trends covered in the article include:
- The dark web has enabled growing sophistication of cybercriminals, making it easier for them to exploit a vulnerability and benefit financially from a cyberattack.
- Use of the cloud is proliferating and it requires comprehensive security solutions that are focused on “system-wide security.”
- Survival requires that security teams be nimble. “To be successful, agile teams need a deeper understanding of security issues, willingness to adopt security practices, and must take increased responsibility for the security of their systems,” the article recommended.
