Cyber Intelligence Firm Releases Top 25 Leaked Passwords from 2018, Raises Security Concerns
Hikvision Outlines 3 Rules for Creating Good Passwords to Reduce Security Concerns and Hacking Risks
Cybersecurity intelligence firm Skout released a list of the top 25 passwords that were leaked online in 2018, raising security concerns, according to an article in Security magazine.
“A good password is the first line of defense between your data and an attacker, so it is vitally important that you make password security a priority in your personal and business life. If you are guilty of reusing, rotating, or using notoriously weak passwords, you are making yourself or your business an easy target for attackers,” said Skout chief technology officer, Jessvin Thomas, in the article.
The list included many obvious and poorly constructed simple passwords. For example, the top five from the list include the following:
- 123456
- password
- 123456789
- 12345678
- 12345
