Forbes Insight Report Uncovers Security Concerns, Finds CISOs Believe Cyberattacks Will Increase
Hikvision Outlines Examples of Phishing
The Security magazine article, “Why CISOs Believe Capabilities of Attackers are Outpacing their Ability to Defend,” covers concerns in security from the Forbes Insight report, which found that 84 percent of chief information security officers (CISOs) “believe the risks of cyberattacks will increase,” according to the article.
More than 200 CISOs were interviewed for the research.
From the report: “More than eight in 10 executives expect the risk of cyberattacks to escalate into the foreseeable future, and 21 percent believe that the capabilities of bad actors—whether they’re individual hackers, nation-states, or careless employees—will grow faster than their ability to defend against them. They believe they face a serious situation, and it’s remarkable that such a large segment of security professionals see themselves and their organizations falling behind in the race to keep up with threats.”
Key findings from the report include:
- CISOs are currently allocating an average of 36 percent of their budget to incident response. Most would like to apply more resources to detection and response capabilities.
- 45 percent of security leaders are adjusting their cyber-strategy to focus more on analytics for enhanced visibility into their network environments. Tools like AI and machine learning are enabling IT teams to “focus on business-critical tasks such as identifying anomalous behavior in their networks and responding to threats quickly,” according to the article.
- Cybersecurity training and education is becoming more of a focus as CISOs work to build awareness and “prevent and reduce internal threats.”
