Hikvision PanoVu Security Cameras Help Track Air Pollution in South Korean City
In the South Korean city of Daegu in the Seo-gu district, complaints of bad air quality near an industrial dye complex prompted officials to seek out Hikvision for a solution.
The city constructed an odor-monitoring, atmospheric information system that measures hydrogren sulfide, ammonia and other volatile organic compounds in real-time.
“The atmospheric information system’s pollution monitoring sensors and integrated PanoVu cameras can define the precise location of each sensor’s triggered event and with the PanoVu PTZ camera, automatically track and target the precise location of the event actuation,” said Joey Kim, SI Team, Hikvision Korea, in a Hikvision corporate case study.
Hikvision recommended its PanoVu DS-2DP0818Z-D 180-degree panoramic camera with four fixed 2MP cameras and a 36x optical zoom PTZ camera to meet the city’s requirements for a high-performance, panoramic imaging solution with zoom capability.
The atmospheric monitoring system consists of the Hikvision PanoVu security cameras, 11 odor detection instruments and two weather-measuring instruments to collect data on wind speed, humidity and temperature. Monitoring the entire city area, the Hikvision security cameras are integrated into the system’s atmospheric pollution sensors and capable of visually pinpointing the source of any odor.
