Hikvision Solutions: Improving Security in the Healthcare Environment
Hikvision has vertical-focused experts who consult with ends users, A&Es, dealers and distributors on tailored solutions for markets such as healthcare.
HikWire sat down with Hikvision’s director of healthcare Chris Lennon to discuss trends and how Hikvision is delivering customized solutions for this important market segment.
HikWire: Tell us about your role.
Chris Lennon: As the director of business development for Healthcare with Hikvision North America, I’m responsible for developing brand awareness for Hikvision in the healthcare sector. This includes major hospital systems, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities as well as pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors. And, I’m always listening to feedback from our end users and integrators about the next healthcare-specific device or software needed in the healthcare space.
HikWire: What new trends are influencing security in healthcare?
Chris Lennon: Healthcare customers are looking for scalable, cost effective and efficient solutions that can solve security and technology challenges in a sometimes chaotic and stressful environment. They are excited to implement and deploy systems that can automate simple tasks or integrate into specific systems that will help the facility solve various security issues.
HikWire: What Hikvision solutions cater to the needs of the healthcare customer?
Chris Lennon: Hikvision has an extensive range of cameras, recording platforms and solutions that will fit any type of application, scenario or environment. Hikvision’s TurboHD line allows healthcare clients to reuse existing cabling infrastructure rather than begin a costly “rip and replace” project to migrate to IP cameras. Hikvision also offers HikCentral, a competitive enterprise recording platform that can manage up to thousands of cameras, alarms and integrations. Hospital security and operation command centers can display multiple cameras on video walls to automate tedious security tasks, improving the safety of their facilities.
HikWire: What future security trends will we see in the healthcare field?
Chris Lennon: There’s a lot of exciting technology, security and IoT-related innovation happening in the healthcare space. From a clinical perspective, healthcare facilities are opting for video and audio in specialty patient rooms to help reduce things like patient falls and IV-pulling, and promote a safer overall environment for patients. Facilities are utilizing deep learning and intelligent smart analytics to ensure they are providing a safe and secure environment for their staff, patients and visitors.
