A security system provided by Hikvision USA Inc., the North American leader in innovative, award-winning video surveillance products and solutions, was installed by integrator The Sound Room based in Chesterfield, Mo. for a smart home built by the Gary Sinise Foundation (GSF) and their R.I.S.E. program (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment).
The new home featuring the Hikvision surveillance system is located in Illinois for a US Army SFC officer who lost part of his right arm and right leg while deployed in Afghanistan.
The Sound Room recommended a Hikvision NVR to provide access to recorded footage and remote access to the security system when the family is away from home. Six Hikvision outdoor turret cameras were installed at strategic points of the home to give complete coverage of the perimeter of the house and a view of the front door.
“The turret style cameras were used for their combination of the aesthetics of a dome camera and the functionality of a bullet camera. The Hikvision value series NVR offered the same functionality of more expensive NVRs at a great price point,” said David Young, president of The Sound Room. Turret cameras feature 3MP high resolution, EXIR 30m IR range and true day/night technology for clear imagery in all lighting conditions.
Through its R.I.S.E. program (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment), GSF builds specially modified smart homes to accommodate wounded veterans, according to its website. Providing features designed for wounded veterans makes small, daily tasks easier for them. The newly built homes are awarded to severely wounded veterans at no cost to the veteran and their family.
GSF was founded by actor Gary Sinise in 2011. “While we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation's defenders, we can always do a little more,” said Sinise on his foundation’s website.
