Hikvision USA Team Members Participate in 30th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day, Join Other Volunteers to Clean Up Long Beach, Calif. Pier
Hikvision USA team members participated in the 30th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day, the world's largest annual volunteer day to protect the environment, according to the non-profit organization Heal the Bay.
On Saturday, September 21, hundreds of thousands of people around the world came together to clean up their local beaches, rivers, lakes and waterways. Inspired by Ocean Conservancy colleagues Linda Maraniss and Kathy O’Hara, “Coastal Cleanup Day is an international day of action to protect our oceans, watersheds and wildlife from trash and debris. This massive volunteering effort has an astounding impact on many of our local natural habitats and communities.”
Hikvision team members joined other volunteers that day at Belmont Pier in Long Beach, Calif. to spend the morning picking up trash and other debris from the beach.
“It’s a Hikvision value to give back to the communities where we live and work, and we’re proud of our people who make time to volunteer for causes of importance to them. Our team worked together to support International Coastal Cleanup Day and our local beaches by contributing to cleanup efforts at Long Beach’s Belmont Pier,” said Hikvision’s director of marketing, Marianne Chew.
Last year’s Coast Cleanup event involved more than 13,000 volunteers who removed 59,600 pounds of trash and debris from L.A. County within a three-hour time span. Worldwide, more than one million volunteers removed over 23 million pounds of trash and debris in 2018.
Hikvision North America team members are active volunteers in charitable causes and have participated in various events with the Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada and with non-profit Mission 500, including the Mission 500 November 2018 Puerto Rico service trip where they helped victims of Hurricane Maria rebuild their homes; a December 2018 kit building event for Title 1 school children in East Hartford, Conn.; the February 2019 Hockey Classic in Toronto; the Security 5/2K at ISC West 2019; and the August 2019 kit building to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to students of Title 1 Crosspointe Elementary School in Boynton Beach, Fla.
