New Research Finds Half of M&D Companies Have Experienced Data Security Breach or Cyberattack in Last 12 Months
Hikvision Proactive with Cybersecurity, Outlines Manufacturer Roles to Avoid Security Breach
The “2019 Manufacturing and Distribution (M&D) Report” found that half of all companies surveyed have experienced at least one security breach or cyberattack in the last 12 months, according to an article in Security magazine, “Manufacturing Companies Face Cybersecurity Threats.”
The survey was conducted by Sikich across 310 companies from a wide-range of industry sectors including wholesale/distribution, metal fabrication, apparel/footwear/textiles, and transportation, to name a few.
From the article: “Digital technologies—such as connected devices in the Industrial Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and robotics, among others—continue to receive significant attention. These technologies are rewriting the rules of competition for industrial companies, while also increasing their vulnerability to the growing threat of cyberattacks and data [security] breaches.”
Key report findings include:
- 58 percent of organizations with less than $500 million in revenue are providing risk awareness training to employees.
- More than half of organizations surveyed have automated some of their production, assembly and packaging processes.
- Almost half of respondents sell via Amazon or other e-commerce sites.
Hikvision has taken a proactive response to cybersecurity, and was lauded by SSI in 2018 as among 'the most proactive' manufacturers in cybersecurity.
