New Study Finds Majority of Enterprises Not Prepared for Security Breach

New research from the study “The Impact of Unsecured Digital Identities” found the majority of companies are not prepared for security breach, according to the Security magazine article: “60% of Enterprises Not Equipped to Respond to Data Breaches.”
More than 600 IT and security professionals across multiple industries were surveyed by Keyfactor and the Ponemon Institute.
“Connectivity and the number of digital identities within the enterprise has grown exponentially thanks to continued cloud, mobile, DevOps and IoT adoption. The complexity of managing those identities while keeping them securely connected to the business has created a critical trust gap—in many cases the keys and certificates designed to build trust are instead causing outages and security breaches,” said Chris Hickman, chief security officer at Keyfactor, in the article.
Additional survey results included:
- 73 percent of those surveyed stated that mismanaged digital certificates were causing unplanned downtime.
- 74 percent of respondents “believe their organizations do not know exactly how many keys and certificates (including self-signed) they have…”
