NRF Survey: 164 Million Americans to Shop Thanksgiving Weekend and Cyber Monday
An estimated 164 million people are expected to shop over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, according the annual survey released by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics.
“This year, we updated our survey to more accurately capture consumer behavior throughout the entire shopping weekend — Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday,” NRF president and CEO Matthew Shay said in the press release. “Consumers will benefit from competitive promotions both in stores and online lasting the course of the weekend, allowing them to find the best gifts at the lowest prices.” Black Friday will remain the busiest day with 70 percent planning to shop then (115 million), according to NRF’s report.
“Retailers should ensure adequate video coverage of their stores year-round, but especially during the busy holiday season,” said Hikvision’s director of retail sales Cliff Miller. “Black Friday presents retailers with new challenges. Incidents that will be reported are thefts, attacks and other violent acts in retail stores across the US. Video surveillance systems are critical to offering a safe, secure experience to customers while protecting retailers from loss and maintaining brand equity.”
Hikvision offers cost-effective, high-value surveillance solutions such as TurboHD HDTVI that allow retailers to install high resolution cameras over their existing cabling infrastructure. This saves money on installation and allows retailers to migrate to IP at a later date. For Hikvision’s retail solutions overview, click here.
