Research Finds Security Concerns Grow as System Vulnerabilities Increase
Hikvision Tips to Reduce Cyberattacks and Security Concerns by Addressing Network Security
Security concerns and costs are on the rise according to a new study, “State of Crowdsourced Security in 2019,” covered in the Security magazine article, “Organizations At Risk for Data Breaches: System Vulnerabilities Increase by 92 Percent.”
The average payout for severe vulnerabilities grew to $2,669, a 27 percent increase over the prior year, according to the article.
“Mega-bugs like ETERNALBLUE, Double Kill, Meltdown, Spectre, and the vulnerability in Apache Struts2—which was responsible for the Equifax breach—are just a few examples of bugs that were exploited in ways that made headlines and left many systems, users and companies devastated,” from the article.
Additional findings from the study include:
- The Internet remains the largest attack surface accounting for 9 out of 10 reported vulnerabilities.
- IoT targets increased and accounted for the second highest payouts, compared with other cyberattacks.
- Sensitive data exposure and broken authentication are two of the top five vulnerabilities over the last year.
