Security Magazine: Report Finds 1 in 50 Emails Contain Malicious Links
Hikvision Cybersecurity Director Offers Tips to Prevent Malware, Phishing
According to Security magazine, a quarterly Mimecast security risk assessment report inspected more than 10 million emails and discovered that one out of every 50 contained malicious links.
“Targeted malware, heavily socially-engineered impersonation attacks, and phishing threats are still reaching employee inboxes. This leaves organizations at risk of a data breach and financial loss,” said Matthew Gardiner, cybersecurity strategist at Mimecast, in the article.
The report also caught thousands of malware attachments, impersonation attacks, and dangerous files.
Hikvision’s director of cybersecurity, Chuck Davis, recently provided tips to prevent malware, as well as examples of phishing URLs to help reduce the risk of security breach.
Tips to Reduce Malware and Phishing
In a recent blog, Davis outlined common security concerns: “Two of the most prevalent attack methods are, network scanning and phishing. A typical network scanning attack occurs when a system scans a network (frequently the Internet) looking for vulnerable systems. When it finds one, it will exploit the vulnerability and infect the system with malware.” The full article is available at this link, and provides the top five tips to prevent malware attacks such as managing your router and resetting default passwords.
In another recent piece, “Hikvision Cybersecurity Director Offers Top Five Tips On How To Prevent Malware, Cyberattacks,” Davis provides examples of phishing attacks and steps to reduce risk. Carefully inspecting email headers and reviewing URL links can help reduce security concerns.
