SIA and Wall Street Journal’s Cyber Imperative Study Finds Digital Transformation Expands Cyber Risks
Hikvision Offers Cyber Tips to Minimize Security Concerns
Global benchmarking study by the Security Industry Association (SIA) and the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the Cyber Imperative, found that “the speed of digital transformation is heightening cyber risks for companies as they embrace new technologies, adapt open platforms and leverage ecosystems of partners and suppliers,” according to an article on the SIA website.
Leading cyber threats reported by respondents included malware (81 percent), followed by phishing and ransomware.
The study also found that “companies whose cybersecurity practices do not keep pace with their digital transformation initiatives are more likely to see $1 million or more in losses from cyberattacks, and digital leaders in the early stages of cybersecurity have a 27 percent chance of suffering a major attack, compared with a 17 percent chance for digital leaders with advanced cybersecurity systems.”
The Cybersecurity Imperative research is a global survey of 1,300 organizations conducted in Q2 of 2018 by ESI ThoughtLab and WSJ Pro Cybersecurity in partnership with SIA and other sponsors. Click here for more information about the research.
