Hikvision Employee Awarded Previous SIA Scholarship Funds, Used for Cybersecurity Training
The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced a new round of $30,000 worth of scholarships for young security professionals who are SIA RISE members, awarded in $3,000 grants to 10 individuals, according to a report by Security Sales & Integration (SSI).
SIA launched the RISE group in 2016 to foster the career development of young professionals in the security industry. RISE membership is open to professionals under the age of 40 or those have been in the security industry less than two years, and who are employees of SIA member companies.
SIA scholarship awards are designed to support professional and educational goals for young security professionals and can be applied to these programs:
- SIA courses such as Security Project Management training seminars, and SIA conferences such as Securing New Ground
- Courses and events related to information technology (IT) or cybersecurity
- Professional courses provided by colleges, universities and private education providers related to the individual’s career in the security industry
SIA is currently seeking applicants from young professionals who are either a SIA student member or a RISE member and an employee of a SIA member company.
The deadline to apply for the RISE scholarship program is Oct. 15, 2018. Visit this link for more information about the program.
Hikvision is an SIA member company, and encourages all its eligible employees to submit an application for the RISE scholarship fund.
An employee of Hikvision USA was a recent winner of RISE funds.
Hikvision Employee Awarded SIA RISE Scholarship in January 2018
Hikvision sales associate, Matthew Elder, was one of 10 individuals selected to receive a $3,000 scholarship earlier this year.
In a HikWire blog about the award in Jan. 2018, Elder said: “I will use the funds to take multiple courses, including Microsoft’s Professional Program in Data Science and the University of Washington’s Essentials of Cybersecurity. I believe that data and its understanding is the key to growth in life and business. I also hope to continue expanding my knowledge of cybersecurity to build upon my IT degree.”
