Strategies to Balance a Mobile Workforce with Security, Reduce Concerns and Data Breach Risk
Hikvision Cybersecurity Director Educates on How to Recognize, and Avoid, Becoming a Victim of Phishing and Spear Phishing
Employees working remotely can generate concerns, and the Canadian Security article “Data security strategies for mobile workers,” outlines ways to reduce risk of breach while balancing convenience with cybersecurity.
According to the author, “When workers feel technology or security protocols hinder their work, they take one of two common paths: they will bypass protocol and use their own device to complete their work, or their productivity will decrease. When security and convenience are at odds in the workplace, the latter often comes out on top.”
Referencing a Citrix Canada survey, four out of 10 Canadian workers believe their employer security protocols hamper remote work. And 50 percent have been a victim of phishing or a virus.
To reduce security concerns for the mobile workforce, the article recommends a secure digital workspace with the following elements:
- A unified solution that can manage the entire technology infrastructure.
- Customizable to meet each worker’s needs and behaviors, and can be adapted based on job function or seniority level.
- Secured with software to provide safe access and full visibility.
