Survey Finds 52 Percent of Respondents Plan to Spend More on Mobile Security in Next Year to Address Concerns
Hikvision Insights for Mobile Device Security
Attendees of the RSA information security conference held March 4—8, 2019 in San Francisco were surveyed by mobile-focused cybersecurity firm, Lookout, about their use of an investment in mobile security to address concerns, according to an article in Security magazine. Fifty-two percent of respondents said they planned to increase their mobile security investment over the next 12 months.
“Mobility, SaaS and cloud computing are enabling end users to access corporate data from any device and any location, rendering traditional perimeter security ineffective. So it is not surprising that, in this post-perimeter era, an overwhelming majority of respondents have accessed corporate data from personal mobile devices or through public Wi-Fi networks. This is concerning as attacks, like phishing, have evolved to take advantage of the fact that existing perimeter protections no longer have visibility into user traffic. Enterprises need to adopt a post-perimeter security architecture to secure access to their corporate data,” said Santosh Krishnan, chief product officer of Lookout, in the article.
Additional survey results include:
- An increase in mobile cybersecurity incidents: One out of 10 respondents reported that their organization experienced a mobile cyber incident or security breach within the last 12 months.
- The majority have accessed corporate data on personal devices: 76 percent have accessed “their corporate network, corporate email or corporate cloud services from a personally-owned mobile device or tablet.”
