Hikvision’s New HD Over Coax TurboHD 4.0 Series Offers 5 MP and 4K Surveillance Cameras and DVRs
TurboHD 4.0 Surveillance Cameras Feature Better Video Compression, Help Minimize Security Concerns
Hikvision North America has launched a new series of TurboHD 4.0 5 MP and 4K surveillance cameras, and several new TurboHD DVRs that include options for 1080p real-time viewing, with higher resolution and better video compression to help reduce security concerns and improve visibility.
Hikvision’s TurboHD HDTVI technology allows customers to install high resolution surveillance technology with their existing cable infrastructure, saving customers money while providing up to 4K resolution over coaxial cables. TurboHD supports IP technology in addition to legacy systems, so end users can migrate over to IP at a later date if desired, which offers them additional value and flexibility.
TurboHD 4.0 is the Next Generation of HD Over Coax
TurboHD 4.0 is the next generation of HD over Coax (PoC) from Hikvision, and offers both 5 MP and 8 MP (4K) surveillance camera resolutions and H.265 or H.265+ video compression technology. Cameras and DVR series support higher resolution HD-TVI input and output up to 4K UHD HDMI.
“H.265 video compression is a big step up in efficiency from H.264, reducing bitrates by 50 percent on average while maintaining high transmission quality, meaning less bandwidth and storage space is required,” said Lou Bellock, Hikvision product manager – hardware.
Also improved is the ultra-low light imaging performance with camera sensitivity offering detailed imagery down to 0.003 lux.
TurboHD 4.0 DVRs Offer End-to-End 4K Solution
TurboHD 8 MP cameras paired with a Hikvision TurboHD 4.0 DVR and a 4K monitor offers customers an end-to-end 4K solution. Hikvision’s DS-7200HTI-Kx Value Series DVR includes 4 and 8 channel models, H.265+/H.265/H.264+/H.264 video compression options, and up 4K recording resolution. The DVR also features HD-TVI/CVBS camera auto-detection, space for one (-K1) and two (-K2) SATA drives up to 8 TB each, support for up to two IP cameras up to 8 MP resolution, and mobile monitoring via Hik-Connect.
Cybersecurity and Firmware Updates to Prevent Hacks
Hikvision has launched numerous cybersecurity initiatives over the last year, including the establishment of a North American cybersecurity team, a dedicated cybersecurity hotline for partner support, and opening the industry’s first Source Code Transparency Center, which provides visibility for government agencies and law enforcement entities in the U.S. and Canada who want to review Hikvision’s source code.
In addition, Hikvision offers online resources such as the Hikvision Cybersecurity Center, and online firmware updates. Cybersecurity best practices can help prevent risk of equipment being hacked and includes recommendations such as changing all default passwords to complex passwords. And, updating firmware is “an effective way to safeguard equipment from cyberattacks and eliminate known vulnerabilities,” said Hikvision’s director of cybersecurity, Chuck Davis.
