This year’s conference will focus on three key retail issues: fraud protection, data security and loss prevention.
At 9 a.m., national security reporter with Toronto’s VICE News, Ben Makuch, will present “The Untamed Cyber World: Threats, Security, and Privacy.” In this session he will discuss recent cyber threats most relevant to Canadian businesses, privacy issues related to investigating those threats, and protection of personal data. Makuch is currently the correspondent for Cyberwar on the VICELAND network, an investigative documentary series examining the covert world of signals intelligence and hackers.
Principal of Computer Forensics Inc., Marty Musters, will present “Understanding Risk, and Its Impact on Data Security” at 1:45 p.m., which will cover data security, loss prevention, recent data breaches, and how these breaches can be avoided.
Other educational session topics include mobile apps and criminal hackers, Blockchain as a loss prevention tool, understanding porch pirates for ecommerce, and other topics of relevance to Canadian retail professionals.
In the exhibit hall at booth #4, Hikvision Canada Inc. will showcase retail and loss prevention solutions such as people counting and heat mapping technology.
