Cyber Incidents One of the Top Global Business Security Concerns, Says Allianz Report
Hikvision Cybersecurity Director Provides Tips to Reduce Security Concerns
According to the “2019 Allianz Risk Barometer” report, 37 percent of businesses stated that cybersecurity incidents are one of the top global business security concerns, according to an article in Security magazine. Business interruption (BI) also remains a top business threat.
According to the article, cybercrime now costs businesses an estimated $600 billion per year (up from $445 billion in 2014).
“Companies need to plan for a wide range of disruptive scenarios and triggers, as this is where their big exposure lies in today’s networked society. Disruptive risks can be physical, such as fire or storms, or virtual, such as an IT outage, which can occur through malicious and accidental means. They can stem from their own operations but also from a company’s suppliers, customers or IT service providers. Whatever the trigger, the financial loss for companies following a standstill can be enormous. New risk management solutions, analytical tools and innovative partnerships can help to better understand and mitigate the modern myriad BI risks and prevent losses before they occur,” said Chris Fischer Hirs, CEO of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, in the article.
Cybersecurity and BI are also highly interconnected since an event such as a ransomware malware attack could result in service or operational disruption to an organization.
