The Security magazine article, “Digital Transformation, Dynamic Threats and Growing Accountability,” covers eSentire’s Cybersecurity Future Watch Report, which found that more than 60 percent of senior executives believe a major cyberattack will occur in the next two to five years, and many struggle to perfect cyber progra ms to reduce security concerns.
The study collected data from 1,250 security executives across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., from a range of industries and company sizes.
From the article: “Boards and security practitioners still struggle to translate their concerns and objectives. Only one-third of business leaders are confident in their security executive’s ability to monitor and report on cybersecurity programs and 66 percent worry that these programs are not aligned to business objectives. IT and security leadership sentiments echo this concern. Most organizations struggle to show the value of IT security spend to senior management, including status reporting difficulties. Aligning to enterprise risk management confounds over half of businesses, along with the ability to manage external risks with third-party vendors and the growing complexity of regulatory compliance.”
The study also showed that 51 percent of the board is familiar with their firm’s security budget, and 45 percent of security officers report to the organization’s board or CEO.
