Hikvision USA participated in non-profit Mission 500’s 5th Annual Security Softball Game, joining other security industry members to raise funds for U.S. children living in poverty. The fundraiser brought in more than $41,000 and took place on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park, N.J.
The event kicked off with a Home Run Derby. More than two dozen participants played softball to raise funds and support various Mission 500 programs that provide essential supplies and support for children and families. Attendees assembled backpacks with school supplies and wrote notes of hope for 400 children living in severe poverty in the South Bronx, N.Y.
Hikvision helped sponsor the event. Hikvision national accounts manager, John Centofanti, volunteered at the registration table, helped fill backpacks with supplies, and played in the softball game.
Mission 500 donated $2,500 of the funds raised from the event to the New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation Children’s Camp, a non-profit dedicated to the advancement of burn care, research, prevention and education. The camp is designed for burn victims under the age of 18 to attend a fun summer event where they can forget about their burn injuries. This is the third year in a row that Mission 500 has supported the camp.
“We are excited to celebrate our fifth anniversary this year. We are fortunate to have had amazing industry support over the past five years, and we look forward to reaching our $50,000 goal this year,” said Tom Nolan, director of strategic partnerships for Mission 500, in an SDM magazine event announcement.
