Hikvision Talks Network Security Tips, Staying Safe on Your Home Network
A new study by Comcast found that home networks pose a security concern as threat actors aim to exploit vulnerabilities. The results of the research were covered in the SecurityInfoWatch.com story, “Report: People ‘vastly underestimate how often home networks are targeted.’”
The “Xfinity Cyber Health Report” is the first conducted by Comcast and outlines cyber threats facing Xfinity Internet customers and their connected devices.
From the article: “… Ninety-six percent of consumers surveyed could not accurately answer six basic cyberthreat questions. Further, a large majority (85 percent) of respondents indicated they are taking all the necessary security precautions needed to protect their home networks, and yet 64 percent admitted to behaviors like sharing passwords with friends and family that open themselves up to attack.”
Key findings from the report also included:
- The most vulnerable devices were computers and laptops, followed by smartphones.
- 83 percent of respondents stated they would not know for sure if one of their non-screen connected devices was hacked, such as a wireless printer.
